WTC tryouts and BIG Tides of War

<wall of text post as I was too lazy/busy/forgot to take pictures, sorry!>

<also an extremly long post>

Another busy weekend of gaming just gone. First there was the tryouts for the English WTC team on the 24th up in Stockport. Followed by Bristol Indepentant Gamings first WmH tournament Tides of War Winter.

Starting with the WTC tryouts, once again myself and my best hobbit friend Ryan (we’re inseparable) went up to Stockport. Ryan was on the selection commitee and I had managed to qualify for the tryouts. Our weekend started early on Friday as we decided to spend the morning/afternoon driving up and chilling before getting some games in during the evening.

So my lists for the tryouts were the Fist (no surprise) and a Xerxis2 list I’d made for the lulz.

UK Nationals 2014 – Day 1

The big day ooOooOoo.

Draws went up the night before for some random reason but whatever. Registered and picked up the 2014 shirt, the goodie bag with the all important food vouchers and a UK Nationals PP pin, nice!

Game 1 – Micheal Dick

Xerxis vs Sorcha 2 in Destruction

Well well. Good start. Scottish WTC member and the guy who placed 2nd in IG last night after barely failing to kill JPs Vlad1. He was playing Khador today and I had the feeling my Fist would get Dicked over (hahahaha… did not see that coming).

So I expected some kind of Vlad or Sorcha as his drop and I recieved the Sorcha2 with a Conquest. I’d considered dropping Makeda2 but all his lists had just a bit too much infantry to make it possible so I dropped the Fist. I won the roll and went first.

Warlords/Immortals 50pt Steamroller 2nd August

Orginally I wasn’t too sure if I could make this one (weekend after the ETC) but after checking with Ryan who was also interested we just went for it. The events in Walsall have always been fun and the drive isn’t that bad. If only they could do something about their start time of 9am.

Softcore @ Dark Sphere 29th March

So this weekend i’m entering my first ‘Hardcore’ tournament, its run by the Cross Gaming Club in London. The reason for the ‘Softcore’ name was the removal of the painting requirement.

I ranĀ  a Xerxis T2 list (no surprise), the only change being the removal of the Arcidon and a unit of Incindiarii.

Tyrant Xerxis (*5pts)
* Tiberion (11pts)
* Titan Gladiator (8pts)
Cataphract Arcuarii (Leader and 3 Grunts) (5pts)
Cataphract Arcuarii (Leader and 3 Grunts) (5pts)
Cataphract Arcuarii (Leader and 3 Grunts) (5pts)
Cataphract Cetrati (Leader and 5 Grunts) (10pts)
Cataphract Incindiarii (Leader and 3 Grunts) (5pts)
Paingiver Beast Handlers (Leader and 5 Grunts) (3pts)
Tyrant Commander & Standard Bearer (3pts)

I managed a couple games with this vs Ryan just after SmogCon, lost both via assassination to general bad positioning but it wasn’t really due to the turn times which seemed to be ok (until crunch time turn). The list is solid and should be able to deal with just about anything I see, i’d considered using Molik but as I mentioned in a previous post he’s going with Makeda3 and will stay there until unless I drop her which is unlikely atm as she’s a bit to much fun.

I didn’t take my tray up to London as its far to big for 1 list and the train journey. It was intended for 3list Masters events where i’d have a car to lug everything around. I do kind of regret not smashing out a small one out of Formex just to get some practice with the router in but no big deal.

All names are copied exactly as they were from my sheet.
